On the final straight now for finishing La Bamba. Managed to pull myself back up to 1BB/100 for a short period and then got taken apart by the regulars and dropped to 15 euros down. Now with 66 points to go and two days to do it I'm in a race against the clock for meeting my bonus requirements. A very tough site and my goal now has to get out with a break even performance and the bonus in my hands.
Bigshot with his roll replinished to $250 but then taken an early dip launches into Stars sparking up a series of SNG and rebuys. With top prize of over 5K and third biggest stack when down to 150. He makes the money though but crashes out in two hands to score a $16 profit on the night.
He comes within sight of the big prize though and his appetite for rebuys seems whetted.

Back at Bamba
With another losing live session adding to my recent woes it was with a little trepidation I dipped my toes back into the shark filled waters of bamba poker.
That didn't last long as I swim with shoals of little fishes instead. I end my first session 45 euros up. I have one hand where I flop quad 8s when it flops j88. Having called a raise I let the initial bettor continue and another caller sticks around. A jack lands on the turn and I'm thinking if anyone is holding a jack I'm getting their stack. There is a small bet made from the initial raiser and I just call. The river brings a third jack and I lead out strong but seriously considering the possibility of having to lay down quads! He just calls fortunately and his pocket kings are no good.
I head back for a second session after a trip to the beach. My luck is running good and the competition soft again as I run up a 36 euro session. Great news as I eradicate my disastrous spell and now can count myself as a winning player again at Bamba. With 97 bonus points to go and 3 days to do it I should escape with 150 euros to the good.
Meanwhile Bigshot strikes a deal with Deadly to fund his new stars account so he can begin to take on the tournaments there.

Back at Bigshot's
Saturday brought another live session once again back at casa bigshot.
With many regulars away it ended up just five handed and with the reintroduction of a shuffling machine the hands per hour ratio increased greatly. Salty dave was first to have to buy back in when his flush proved no good against a well disguised full house from Sham. Sham proved himself on fire when phillberto backed his pocket kings to the felt on an uncoordinated board only to find sham sitting on pocket aces. It was bigshots turn to be felted next as Sham's incredible winning run continued. His stack continued to increase when Phillberto opted to slow-play pocket tens. A low uncoordinated flop and with a small raise and few callers I ramp it up to 45 hoping to take it down to one caller at least. I get my wish and sham is the man to call. A scary king and Sham bets into it but just 20. I can't lay down to that so opt for a small reraise. It gets called so I'm happy to have the option to check down the river. Sham shows the big slick to take down another juicy pot.
With Trump Towers in front of him at the end he proves the big winner. Deadly cashes in $220 getting the best of the little action he saw. Bigshot after being felted is looking to recover his losses to keep his winning streak alive. Short stacked he moves allin after a weak bet from Salty and a raise from Phillberto. After pondering I fold my weak top pair, thinking I have the odds to call as I'm probably up against a draw but with others left to act decide to fold. Bigshot again overbets a big draw on the final hand and is called by Salty Dave with top pair shit kicker. Bigshot has 17 outs though and his flush hits on the river to felt Salty for the second time on the final hand of the night. That took him to an $8 profit and another winning performance. So it ends up.
Sham: +$532
Deadly: +$220
Bigshot: +$8
Phillberto: -$360
Salty Dave: -$400
Kudos to the man from Malaysia who just keeps winning.

Drop Final - late entry
So no poker for me as Football training commences again. I do bump into Moocher on the ferry home fresh from final table success at Drop. With a beer or two inside him he seems both chuffed and perhaps even a tad cocky. Table talk, all-ins aplenty and psychological warfare with his opponents seem to be his strategy. Doubling up in the first hand by calling an allin with 78 against 63 (against the guy that took him out with 86s against Moocher's pocket 9's at his last attempt). With a final entry ticket in the bag Moocher went allin blind on every hand until called so he could catch the 11.30pm ferry.
He also managed to take out Brendan (Mr Cocksure) of earlier Drop sessions. Calling an allin with JJ and catching him on a bluff.
So a well done to Moocher who joins Bigshot for the chance to win a trip to Phuket. I suspect he may not have made too many friends that night though having given the dealer a hard time and bar staff for their over-priced drinks. But he does have the chance to fly the flag for the island by taking the Drop trophy back the shores of Lamma. Bigshot may have something to say about that. One more week to qualify I believe although I doubt I'll manage.

And another one down....
The lamma decline continues. This time it is Moocher who returns from Dubai and launches into a ten tournament marathon session. He fails to place in any of them and drops $50 in one session.

Makes pretty damning reading. Although I think this is just tournaments so Deadly can probably make a claim for misrepresentation of his true form. Please note Deadly and Moocher are officially On Tilt. My figures seem rather artificially high. I suspect its included my two $1 MTT that I placed in both as my average game is $6 or $11 SNG's.
Need somebody to rake in a proper win and make sure Lamma is +ve.
Macau anyone?

Not invited to the Party
Got a phone-call from Bigshot last night who had been rejected from his usual haunt of Party Poker. 'Playing in an illegal jurisdiction' was the accusuation. I sparked up party and despite new software dowloading it seemed the same as ever. Bigshot had been in touch with customer service and this decision was made in the past few days. I thought I'd escaped as I used Neteller to deposit funds but alas not. When I tried to sit on a table I received the same message.
Looks like Party are towing a pretty conservative line having frozen out US players and now bowing to the implicit commands of the Chinese government. I suspect other sites will continue as normal. Party have changed their bonus system anyway from way the best on offer to decidedly mediocre so it is no great loss. I believe Bigshot may have some more info on the whole story and may post later.
As for me I continue my poker lite intentions but do manage an exact 30 minute session before bed. I play tight on one table and run over a 3 and then 2 way game on a second table with any aggression seeing folds. I end up $6 up and very happy to have begun to turn around my dismal B2B record. Still need to rack up a few bonus points before month end but think I can break the back of it at the weekend.
Bigshot's Party Poker revelations are accompanied by news of another Lamma bust-out. Playing a 12 hour session Bigshot played MTT after MTT for as much as $33 a game. Despite placing in 5 of the 9 games he played he managed to diminish his bankroll. By diminish I mean of course bust-out. He signs up for Stars but is unable to transfer funds so he takes the night of in the belief that the Poker Gods are not smiling on him.
With Moocher's career taking off and Dubai being the centre of his attention his bankroll decline steadies off as he stays clear of the tables.
So it seems the worst week yet for the Lamma crew. Perhaps this week will bring better fortune.

Beach or Poker?
. We'd decided to make up a picnic and head down to the beach with some friends. As it was a bit hot we retired to the Aircon and I unsurprisingly sparked up a game of poker. Having been battered by B2B I opted for the gentler climes of Party Poker and a $6SnG. When I crashed out in 6th I was just about at rock bottom in poker confidence. On a whim I entered a $1 tournament which was just starting. I triple up with AK when the King hits and manage to stay ahead. With 100 people remaining it seems like it is time to head to the beach.
So here was my dilemma. Its just a $1 and I have a day out planned - can I just walk away. No of course not. I go all in with A7 from UTG having not played a hand for a long time. I get called by the big blind with AJ (a bad call) but I hit not just one seven but two. I then advise the moll that I'll follow on as soon as I can. She isn't happy but agrees.
We're down to 50 and approaching the first bubble and the phone rings. I am now officially in the bad books. After a while of playing tight I go all-in twice with 108s, 78s and don't get called. Next hand KK and of course I go all in. This time I get not just one caller but 2 and it holds up against junk! I'm now in the top ten of stacks and approaching the bubble. and I can'r bring myself to poker suicide!
I tighten up and the next phone call comes as we approach another bubble. I make a few fearless raises against people that I don't think want to endanger their tournament life and don't get called. Before I know it I'm on the final table but the small stack. Another phone call and this time I realise I am in big trouble. I play aggressively and am not getting called. When I do I'm a big favourite and double up. When I double up a second time I'm third biggest stack. The others fall away and it comes down to three handed.
The blinds are big and the chip leader goes for an allin on the first hand. Uncalled. Second hand he is again allin. Uncalled. When he does on the third hand the other guy calls and loses in race and I'm in second. Next hand he is all-in again. I call with A6s and he turns over pocket 2's. Despite an A hitting its accompanied by a 2 and I pick up $48.
I half run and half walk to the beach and face the music. In the bad books indeed and probably banned from poker for the week but my best tourney result so far. Just wish I could have taken that first slot.
So my mission is to try and squeeze in enough time to finish Bamba poker whilst maintaining a level of domestic bliss. Poker Lite this week.

Down but not out
The weekend saw a bad patch turn into a downward spiral. I'm now a losing player at 20NL on B2B and my bankroll took a pounding. I still need 200 player points to finish the bonis which assuming I can manage break even poker will see my logging in a mere 5 euros up. A fine reward for what seems like three generations worth of play.
With Deadly also hitting a bad patch at the same time confidence seems to be at a low ebb. Moocher returns from his Dubai trip no doubt fired up to begin making some inroads on his quest for winning poker. Bigshot, either isn't a monday morning person so we'll have to wait and see where he stands.

Bah!
I'm being led a merry dance at Bamba Poker. I'm now a losing player after approaching 10,000 hands at 20NL which is worrying. Still showing a profit due to wins at 4NL and 10NL while I was waiting on 20NL tables becoming available. Pretty sickening and I still have a good few hours of play to go before I get my full bonus (which expires at the end of the month). I'd really like to be playing one table and analysing my play a little more but have to get the table hours in.
Calling stations that can read hands seem to be my nemesis.

Normal Service Resumed
I reexamine my starting hand requirements and realise how far I'm diverting from optimum play. Small blind I'd been getting a bit over exuberant with any two soooted! Also in middle position I'd been getting a bit loose. I also was being too aggressive with nothing or draws on the flop/turn.
I opt to play two short 45 minute sessions - I play tight and conservative and log off after the first session $16 up. The second session I lose an allin with a shortish stack who flops a straight on the card that gives me trips. I then reraise two players with a flush draw that doesn't connect and I'm suddenly losing. I plod on and have to extend the session a little to the moll's chagrin. End result +25 euros and I'm on track for redeeming my earlier whupping.
One crate of san mig coming your way soon deadly. Let bigshot and myself know your availability for a casa bigshot live game. We were thinking 3pm-10pm on Sunday. Works for you?

Bad Patch
I'm going through a bad patch at the moment. Really making some desperation calls. The bonus I'm chasing at the moment seems to be taking an age to reach. I tried playing three 20 euro tables last night and just got myself in all sorts of trouble. I ended up playing 7 tables in all and lost on them. I'd be grinding out small wins and then get in a tangle and end up folding or making crying calls. Lost 44 euros in all and back down to level at 20NL and only a small profit at 10NL at Bamba. I do think playing against daytime Europeans is a bad situation. If I can refind my discipline I'm sure I can recover and claw a little money back. As things stand I'm 60% of the way to clearing a 140 euro bonus.
I did watch my first HU cardrunners video last night as well as Brystmar playing in a LAG style although his stats were still pretty TAG. Deadly I'll need to make a contribution to you for this - beers? Poker Stars transfer? Just let me know.
The next site I'm planning on hitting is Poker4Ever or Pacific which apparently have bad players. I'm fed up of being outplayed - I want to start taking some bad beats instead. The Moll even beat me at HU the night before. I hit trips and she hit the nut flush on the flop.
My mission for this week is simply to reach Monday posting another increase to my bankroll and be 3/4's of the way through my Bamba bonus. Currently US$61 down.
There may be a live session round at Bigshot's this week. Saturday or Sunday mentioned.

With Moocher away in Dubai and Bigshot not responding to texts I've only updated myself and myself and Deadly this week. I really should have posted this week as I've managed quite a few hours play. Managed to lose 70 euros in one session so my weekly total could have been a lot better.
I'll post a fuller update tonight.

They mean business on B2B.
I've been putting in the odd hour or two when the small pair are sleeping and been making little progress. After a bright start I dropped three buy ins and just when I recovered I dropped another 20 euros. The bonus is superslow and I think I'll be looking for easier pickings elsewhere as Bamba Poker leads me a merry dance.
With a BB/100 of just over 2 I'm earning less than your average chain gang labourer. Ho hum - hope a good spell is on the horizon. if not I'll grind it out and have $200 bonus for my efforts. A victory on a $6 Party SnG helps a little. I deposit $25 to maybe clear a $3.75 bonus there but even that is going to be slow and I only have a couple of days.
Any action from elsewhere?

Final Table
Drop sees a strong lamma contingent as four Lamma representatives step up to fly the flag for the island. All four make the final two tables but then Bam! Bam! Bam! three drop out.
Big Jim racked up an early stack whilst triping up early doors. He lets it slide away a little before succumbing as the final table beckons. Moocher looks to make the final table two times in a row and he gets his money in good. Pocket 8s against 75s allin preflop. It wasn't to be and he crashes out with anothe badbeat tale to add into his growing library. Phillberto doesn't see much action and get caught with his hand in the cookie jar with the blinds growing and gets put allin by the Bigblind and has to fold. With a decimated stack I end up getting the last of it in with KQ against A3.
Bigshot with a shortish stack with ferry time approaching gets it all in over and over again but doesn't get called and he ends up forgetting that ferry and taking his increased stack to the final table. With five qualifying and only six left on the table he is frantically trying to keep track of chip-stacks. On the final hand he is just in fifth place by a mere hundred chips or so. When his opponent goes allin he knows a blind steal will be enough to push him out of the final table. He calls and with Kx he is favourite - he catches a King and he makes it.
Offers of a post match cash game are offered by Mr Cocksure of earlier mention (Brendan). Both Bigshot and I pass as for that week. He has a ferry to catch and I have a small matter to attend to namely that I catch up on some zzzzz's with the imminent arrival of baby number two and by 9.04 the next morning I have a small pair which soon ends up in a full house.

Para Bailar La Bamba
I'm sure I read somewhere that means 'Dance the goat'. Altavista Babelfish tells me that in order to dance you need a little grace. See this is more than just a poker-blog. It serves to enlighten and educate.
I join La Bamba poker site on the B2B network and put decide to do 90 minutes two tabling at 10/20euro tables.
I lose on one and win on the other table but my combined profit is a healthy 26 euros. Running at 20BB/100 that gives me a promising start. I was a little worried about taking on daytime Europeans again and coming up against more people looking to generate income from playing.
Weekends are always fun though. Drunken scandiwegians aplenty.
I'll stick up a few hand histories over the next day or so. I did make a big call down with A6 on what I was sure was a big river bluff and again with a lowly pair of sixes. Felted a short stack with Quads which seemed a bit like overkill as I suspect my 22's might have been good without any help.
Its Live Poker tonight at drop with me, the moll, Moocher and Bigshot confirmed and one slot available. Deadly?
I also have another 43 table hours to get through in the next 28 days so need to stack up a reasonable number of sessions. Two tabling should half the time online though.
Any action for anyone last night then?

No No! No No No No! No No it is limit.
Sneaked in a sng yesterday while a dodgy Tagalog soap opera played. Somehow managed to sign up for a limit game. With poker office keeping track of stats and some soap opera action catching my attention I fold and fold. I check in the big blind and its checked around. I decide to bet half pot and take it down. I'm surprised that the blinds are so high and there are 10 players left but some more soap opera action distracts. After 25 minutes of play and still 8 people left I'm in danger of getting blinded out and I decide to raise a marginal hand when its folded to me on the button. I can't work out where the box to type bets in has gone and end up clicking min-raise button and its folded to me.
Finally it dawns on me for the past thirty minutes I've been playing Limit! I end up chip I end up chip leader and start to apply pressure on the medium stacks when we are on the bubble. I end up with half of the tables chips in front of me at one stage. I end up going too far and pressuring second stack without a hand and this time it seems like he is willing to go to showdown and I have to fold giving up a pile of chips. I wait for the bubble to burst. Next hand I raise with AQ. Check raise when a queen hits. Check raise again on the turn to get it allin. He has 72 giving him a pair of 2's but hits another 2 on the river to knock me out.
Still pretty dull compared to NL but good for a change.

Outperforming the Dow Jones - the Lamma Poker Index
Well as always stock options go up and stock options go down. In the lamma poker index this weeks hottest peforming (DDP) stock breaks the 2K barrier and continues to romp on. (Phb) hits a new high. Despite optimistic reports of potential major gains Moocher stocks slides continue and are now in a seven week dip. Bigshot stocks haven't seeing much trading volume but industry experts predict signs that a period of volatility may be approaching with the oncoming wireless introduction and drast reduction in household personnel.

HK$10,000 Macau Tournament
Deadly emails a forum poster and gets sent details of a tournament in the planning. With a HK$50,000 as the main event the HK$10,000 tourney seems to have caught the imagination of us all. To be held in the Astoria hotel in November it could be a taste of real tournament action for comparitively big stakes action. I plan to earn the money online before then. Bigshot as the name suggest could probably find that amount of money in his biscuit tin. With Moocher about to befriend a wealthy arab sheikh he can maybe even persuade him to bankroll him for the event. Deadly could make that in one night playing heads-up. So it looks like Team Lamma might have four entrants. Sham will sort out the T-shirts.
Live from the Deli
The action starts early. Bigshot raises and gets called by deadly in the Bigblind.
Flop comes 10 8 6 and the money starts to go in. when a 7 arrives the 9 would fill a straight. Big shot makes a raise on the river and gets called. Bigshot shows down 66 and had hit trips on the flop. Deadly opts to call with the 9 in the hole and scared of the J9. My holding on this first hand J9o and I was soo close to playing it!
I raise in late position with 89o and get called by deadly. When A8x flop comes he bets out. I consider reraising to find out if he has it but decide to play cautious thinking I'll have easier spots.
I watch unplayable cards for an age and then pick up 99. I raise and end up heads up against the Malaysian Master Sham. A small bet by Sham and I reraise. He calls. The turn leaves it again just one card off a straight. Sham bets $50. Sham could be playing anything. Scared of an overpair, made straight, two pair I let it slide and he shows a compete bluff. Ouch. Nicely done but a tad risky.
Pete arrives to take up another seat and soon after Moocher finds himself in the action when he lands a dream flop with his A10s catching a mono diamond flop. Bigshot takes the betting lead and Moocher checks behind. With a non diamond turn Bigshot bets and is faced by a Moocher allin. He calls and they both flip over. Bigshot has QJ to give him two pairs leaving him four outs.
Moocher takes a sickening beat as a jack hits on the river - he calls it a night convinced the poker gods have it in for him. Two late arrivals join - Dave and Jan with his female fanclub. Dave isn't afraid of seeing some action and puts in some ballsy bluff raises. Enough are picked off though to see him having to buy-in four times in quick succession.
Bigshot starts to pile up the chips and Deadly makes some gains. Some of the money is taken off the table as Pete leaves with some cash in his pocket and Deadly leaves later $250 to the good.
Lots of showdowns now with middle pair vs bottom pair or Ace high versus bottom pair not out of the ordinary. I continue to fold some bad cards. Not seeing any pairs, Anything higher than A6o. Even two face cards or suited connectors. Not a thing.
The game starts to get a bit ragged and slows down. Breaches of etiquette occur as the turn and river are peeked at with action still playing and comments made on what had been folded mid hand.
Ol' Dave makes a bit of a comeback and Sham's pile seems to be growing slightly. I manage to limp into a couple of pots and take them down with middle pair against Dave. Mark has a city of chips and I've battled by way up to a small hamlet of $300. We decide to call it a night after one more round. The final hand sees three way action with Jan, bigshot and myself seeing the flop. Jan bizarrelly goes allin then in a moment of panic at his decision pulls it all back in. Noone calls him on it but when he bets $40 and then changes it to $60 he seems to have taken string betting to a new level.
With his panic reaction to his impetuous allin I can't see him having two pair or better. I think he has an ace and a medium kicker. I call as I still have bigshot behind and I think I have to fold if he comes over the top. He folds and when Jan leads with a small bet on the turn I decide that he probably has a smaller kicker than me. I push and he calls. He flips over A4 and with the board reading
A35 he has a gutshot and two pair possibility leaving him seven outs. The 2 lands filling his straight and I've missed my chance to finish a winner. 6 hours of play and my best three hands pre-flop were 99, KQ, A8s. I hit top pair twice and middle pair twice. For the second time in a row I'm using the same official match excuse once again. Bad cards!
