Back from the Lamcombe/Waterfront I played and won a couple of $2 HU games and then sat in for a $5+0.50 9 handed SNG. Got off to a good start with a tricky hand. I reraised JJ out of position and was called by two players. One very loose and the other solid. The board was 884. I check-raise allin and both call. I really don't know where I stand. Not sure if it was a good play or not. The good player had checked behind so I thought it slightly more likely he had an AK, AQ type hand. My hand held up okay against AK and some rubbish. I had a chunck of my stack taken of me when holding top pair and an inside straight draw in a multi-way pot. The river brings a straight for me and a flush. I faced a raise of $150 into a pot of close to 2K so called and lost to a King flush.
Get outplayed thereafter and settle for second place while Moocher railbirds and enjoys the whupping.
Made to it to heads-up against a solid player who made my life difficult as he whittled my stack down. Sober I would have beat hmi of course!

Frankenstein and Poker4Ever (or at least until the bonus comes)
Not a poker heavy week for me.
I dabble in some $2 heads-up. Win some, lose some, pay some rake. With some wine and a black russian inside me and a heads-up warm-up with Deadly inside me I let Mrs Phillberto try her hand at the Stars $2 HU games. With me in an advising role I soon guide her to defeat. In the second game on a flop of QJ6 rainbow I advise her to push over the top of his raise with her open ended straight draw. He calls with QJ and its only then that I notice alcohol has taken its toll and its merely K8 she holds. The runner runner miracle cards don't show and Mrs Phillberto looks accusingly at me. I sneak off and play two $5 HU games and manage to win them both making amends for my earlier lapse.
Saturday morning sees me return to Poker4ever. Its starts well for me when I am rewarded for a stupid play with AQ. I push allin over the top of a second pot sized bet and face two pairs. I connect with a second Queen to get lucky. I then end up chasing two nut flush draws - both without pot odds and with questionable implied odds. Both connect only to find out on both occasions that two pairs have also been upgraded into full houses too.
I jostle in a heads-up battle with one guy for 40 minutes and when a third player joins we are where we started. The third guy folds to aggression on the first couple of hands and following a raise from me (board 237) and 2/3 sized pot bet he decides to reraise to $7. I've connected with trips 3s on a flushing board so I just push. He calls with 88 and is well behind. Until an 8 lands on the river that is.
Steaming a little I raise a little light with 78o from the cutoff ande get a call from my HU adversary. I get the perfect flop of T96. He leads into me so I reraise and he comes over the top allin. I suspect he has trips but with the nuts it is an easy call. I stay ahead and felt him.
I call it quits after that. Far down on my high water mark but still ahead and 1/6th of the way to clearing a $200 bonus.
Elsewhere Deadly leaves the psychological rough and tumble of the poker table for the physical dangers of the football field. Defending a corner he suddenly ends up on the floor. When he gathers his senses. The ball is in the net and his modelling career is jeopardised as he sports a nasty gash. Several hours of public queuing later and five stitches later Lamma's Frankenstein lookalike plods towards a ferry-bound taxi.

Deadly performance on track as we have come to expect. A solid month and should hit the 3K mark by the end of September on current form.
Phillberto falls just shy of his monthly average but still heading in the right direction.
Moocher records a break even month. Is this the start of the turnaround? With a big MTT tourney win cancelling out three losing weeks it is hard to say.
Bigshot comes has a couple of decent MTT scores and comes close to an even bigger win but is still on a downhill trajectory. (Correction - he under-reported his roll and adjustments have now been made - a winning week after all.
Lamma_Jim joins late in the month and without any significant action its impossible to read anything at all into his online debut month.

Final Tables - common as muck
Moocher takes the honours, playing live at Drop. He is first out though and fails to make the final.
I played for a bit after work waiting on football training to start. I still can't put a consistant run together at $2+0.20 SNGs so decided to register for Poker4Ever eventually. The traffic is absolutely terrible and I struggled to find a game. Play is also slow so I signed up for a full ring game .05/.10 blinds and another with .025/.050 blinds. There are no restrictions on what your buy-in is though so I plopped $40 down at the smaller stakes tables and $50 down at the other. I also stuck $40 down at a 0.10/.020 SH table and eventually had a Croatian join me for some HU action. I lost a big pot against him early on but soon won it back plus some. I enjoyed taking his cash as he was taunting me for bad play for some reason. I would have won more because I hit a flush on the turn and he hit trip Aces on the river. Unfortunately not being used to the site I timed out as I was considering my bet size on the river. With a $4 pot already built and him only having $12 behind I think a check raise would have felted him (he showed me at the end obviously pleased with his cunning slow-play!).
Unfortunately this combined with the fact I wasn't seeing any cards at the other tables I recorded only a $3 win. I can't say I like the site but it is apparently very soft. The bonus has no time limit so maybe I can clear it on Thursday evenings after work whilst waiting on footie training (where I don't have Poker Tracker).
NEWSFLASH - managed a 30 minute lunchtime sesh. Played with 50 bucks on a .025/.50 table and the standard was dire. I folded, folded, folded as they all bluffed and rebluffed each other. I decided to wait for a hand and expected to get paid off. I raised with KJ from the small blind and was called. KXX flop and try to bet $3 but get timed out and auto-folded. Doh! Realise I'm playing on a speed-table. I shrug it off. When it happens again with another flop that I connected with I'm a tad pissed off and $12 down! It's tough deciding a bet and getting it made in time! Next time I raise AKs to $3 from the Big blind with three callers. One calls. I bet pot with a complete calling station. He calls again and a second club lands to give me a flush draw. He is playing short and has a pot sized amount left. With fold equity (having folded every hand for ten minutes) and a good draw I put him allin. He calls. The river blanks and.....I take down a nice pot with A high. Muppet!
A few hands later I see a raise from Overbluffing idiot. Muppet calls in the BB. Flop A Q J rainbow. Overbluffing idiot bets. Muppet calls. Turn is a low card. Bluffy goes allin and Muppet calls. River another nothing card. Showdown.
Bluffy: 34o
Muppet j6o to take down the pot!
Bluffy reloads and starts to go all in for 10 bucks. He gets called first time. A4 for Bluffy against Kojak. He wins. He goes allin again and is called by the same guy. A3 this time against KQ and KQ wins. Bluffy disappears.
My next opponent went allin on a board of 6644 and was called. He had the 4 against his opponents 6. 'I knew you had it' he said!
A few hands later he raised under the gun for 1.75. He is a habitual pot limper so this stands out a little. I have pocket Aces however and reraise. He pushes and I call. AA v KK...kaching! He only had $10 unfortunately. Three good players then arrived and all seemed to know each other and were talking about their MTT results so I ducked out for lunch. They all matched my $75 so it would have been an interesting deep stack session with other numpties at the table. Do you announce your good hands or disguise them?
$25 bucks up but it could have been a lot more.
Poker4Ever. Horrible software. Terrible availability/game selection. Worst of all though. The players!

Fourth Season of High Stakes Poker - Prop bet anyone?
The premiere episode features poker pros Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Laak, Todd Brunson and Mike “The Mouth” Matusow.
The newcomers on the premiere episode include Brian Brandon from Chicago, Antonio Salorio from Florida, and poker pro Haralabos Voulgaris from Los Angeles.
HSP IV increases the minimum buy-in to $500,000 on Monday, Nov. 5 to make this season the richest ever on GSN.
The line-up includes Patrik Antonius, David Benyamine, Doyle Brunson, Eli Elezra, Sam Farha, Jamie Gold, Barry Greenstein, Phil Hellmuth, Jennifer Harman and Daniel Negreanu, as well as newcomers Brandon Adams, Mike Baxter, Phil Galfond, Guy Laliberte and Bob Safai.
If your player ends up allin against another person's player and you lose then you fork over HK$50.
OK we'll give Bigshot the first choice and he of course goes for Sammy Farha.
Moocher has to take Mike Matasow.
I'll stick $50 in for Mrs Phillberto for Phil Helmuth (and increase resistance to me getting to watch it!).
The 'Ol Grandaddy of Poker for Deadly?
I'll plump for Barry GreenStein, Jen Harman and Daniel Negreanu but willing to give any up if anyone objects.

Final Table again
Becoming quite common-place these days. In a 180 man Stars MTT ($4+0.40) Bigshot led the field with 20 to go. By the time the final table came around he was on a middling stack but with everything to play for. With just seven left and some unfortunate soul disconnected he could have folded his way to sixth but its better to burn out than fade away. Fade away he did but had a nice little boost to his bankroll. It could have been a lot more with just a little good fortune.
His Official Poker Ranking is now: 295,677 of 576,029
With Moocher still well ahead with an impresive placing of 76,957 of 576,029.
As for me I played a series of $2 heads-up after work (whilst waiting on Drop Poker night- that would have been a long wait as it's tonight). Won four in a row and then lost two, getting my money in good both times. Won four - lost four now. I didn't log out of Stars though so I had to return to Pokerroom LA for some SNG action.
Played a $5+0.50 10 man SNG and got a bit caught out by the blinds advancement. With four remaing I got allin against the big stack with AA preflop but his Q8 suited hit a straight. I tried again whilst watching Bigshot going deep and this time took it down in first.
Moocher also triumphs in a $5+0.50 SNG but his bankroll still seems to have dropped a little despite the win.
I think I'm ready for a return to Cash games now after my little SNG holiday.

Volar update
The times are 9pm-1am making it a non Lamma friendly event. I fancy a trip to Drop tonight for some Live action there. Moocher is going - anyone else?
Bigshot and I discussed having a night for a Stars MTT tournament and a concurrent cash game. Saturday night was his suggestion. Maybe looking at a $4+0.40 180 man SNG and a 25NL cash game.
Sound good?

Final Table and heads-up
Bigshot texted me late last night with news of reaching another final table. In another Stars $4+0.40 180 man tourney. Pretty solid form from him. He ended up taking 3rd spot and a $86 pot. I believe 1st would take a $216 pot so pretty close to a reasonable score.
I plumped for a 9 man SNG on Stars last night and with no cards pretty much used selective aggression and lots of folding to get myself a third place slot and earn $4 profit. I then decided to try a little low limit heads-up. My first game I started super aggressive taking down about six pots with raises. I re-raised his opening raise with AA and was put all-in. Nice. He shows JJ so an understandable push from him. It wasn't quite so good when he hits a Jack on the river. I staged a brave comeback with a very short stack, playing very aggressively but with a short stack I lost with middle pair against a slow played top pair.
The second game I played the guy limped pre-flop always. Folded out of position almost always and let me take down most pots pre-flop. He would play back only occasionally and I though I would take down the small pots and be on a free-roll when he did play back. I hit middle pair on a flop and call his min-raise hoping to catch trips or two pair but fully expecting to be behind when I do. I get a flush draw on the turn adding to my outs and am priced in to make a call. When the flush hits I bet slightly over pot to look like a bluff and get called. My K flush loses to his A flush (he had AA). Outplayed on that one I guess.
On the third game I fully expect to make amends getting it all in with pocket fours which give me a full house on the turn and he had trips. He hits an Ace to give him a better full house and I drop a third buy-in. What a terrible heads-up record I now hold. Played 4. Won 1.

Poker4Ever
Prediction #2 (results)
Looks like I came up short by $30. This was partly because I overestimated how many table hours it would take me to clear the bonus in playing hours (although I played less than I anticipated). I also missed my big blind target finishing up at 6.9BB/100. The second part of the prediction I'll have to cancel as I can't join the second site.
I'm looking at Poker4Ever as my next site as its supposed to be super soft. Poker Tracker doesn't work so I'll be flying blind. I'm interested to see how this effects my play. Maybe I'll have to pay attention and develop some hand reading skills instead. No time limit on the bonus so I'll mix in some MTT SNG action on Stars. I want a ranking just like Moocher!

Maybe I'll have to pay attention and develop some hand reading skills instead. No time limit on the bonus so I'll mix in some MTT SNG action on Stars. I want a ranking just like Moocher!

Volar
If anyone gets the chance to pick up a copy of Beats magazine. Look out for an advert for the Volar poker tournament. Starting this Wednesday the top prize is a trip to Vegas baby. They also have web addresses for two of their sponsors The Hong Kong Poker League and Poker school that I wanted to check out. If you find it can you post the links.
Lamma Poker Exchange (and bankrolls)
Think we'll add in a new stat in each week. The combined win$ of all Lamma online players.
Lamma Poker Exchange: 2591 (+101)
The biggest one week gain is +391
The biggest one week loss is -384
With the blue-chips showing little movement, a new penny share listing showing promise the week's big gains came from the temperamental technology stock. Big fluctuations in the finance markets with the receivers at the door but a late recovery is staged albeit with a late dip.

Final Table Frenzy
Lamma is now officially on the poker map. It's that little unmarked island not far from Macau.
Lamma drama aplenty this week. We also welcome Lamma_Jim to this week's rankings. He starts his roll off with $100 and signs up at Poker Stars. Choosing a 5 man $1 tourney to start off his online career with trembling fingers he is dealt into his first SNG. It's all good as he opens up with a debut win. A couple of unplaced games though and his win is depleted. Its still a winning week though and he goes into the second week a winning player. Nice one sir!
With Moocher sliding towards what appeared to be an inevitable busto it looked like doom and gloom for him. With $40 left in his account he set bankroll managment aside once again and opted for a $5+0.50 Multi-player tournament. With 157 entrants it was a long shot but when he reached the final table his luck was running good and confidence was high. When he made it to heads-up with a big cheap lead over his opponent he set him to the test with a 10,000 raise. His opponent responded with an allin raise putting in his last 28,000. Holding 95o Moocher wasn't phased. On a hot streak he called and was rewarded with a Q95 flop and took home a $204 pot. Moocher is back! He continued his turn in form and managed to add a few more dollars to his roll. Having just missed out on his $100 bonus by only a few player points its now all rosy in the Moocher household - the storm clouds have finally broken and a little sunshine is peaking through. Can he build on it?
Meanwhile Bigshotbog is back from a UK trip and was chomping at the bit for some MTT action. In a parallel fashion Bigshot was also perilously close to virtual bankruptcy. He takes his final online dollars and buys-in to a 180 man $5+0.50 MTT. After a few marathon sessions over the weekend he has been bleeding money and begins to look forward to a poker-free life. Fate once again steps in. In another back-from-the-brink tale he finds himself at the final table and reaches the last three in a commanding position. His good fortune comes to an end though as he has to settle for third place. The accompanying $216 score is a welcome one and with a rejuvenated bankroll he returns to the tables on Sunday. We await news on whether he has frittered his newly plumped Bankroll away. Indications on Sunday evening weren't positive however.
Things seem to be pretty quiet for Deadly this weekend. His roll slumps a little and his journey to 3G seems to be a lot slower than route 2K.
For yours truly I continued to work towards clearing a $100 bonus. Unfortunately leaking most of my earlier gains in the process. $60 down from my high-water mark the bonus served to reverse these losses. Short of my 8BB/100 target as I check out just shy of 7BB/100 it was a disappointing end to a promising start. I try to sign up at their sister site but after inputting my details they recognise me and after checking with support I realise I am not eligible for another first deposit bonus. I decide to leave the decision on what site to go to until later and join Bigshot and Deadly on Stars for some SNG action there. I potter around on the $1 tables. I win a 5 man SNG, bubble out and then take down a small prize in another MTT. I score a few losses on a couple of 4.40 tourneys and I'm down $14. I decide to go for a 180 man $4+0.40 before calling it a night. It goes well and I reach the final table. I've been just below average stack for the majority of the table and just doing enough to survive. I check my stats and I've won 10 out of 10 showdowns - getting lucky once -very lucky I might add - four limpers (400/800 blinds) and I have 88 and I push for around 12,000. The button thinks for a long time and calls - he has 99 and I'm looking like a goner until a miracle 8 shows on the flop. With this win I become 3rd in chip-stack as we reach the closing stages and I begin to think a decent score is in sight.
With no cards and antes and blinds taking their toll my stack dwindles though and we now have one big stack everyone else very close to each other. It is now 2.30am and noone has been felted for a good 20mins. I haven't played a hand for a while. I'm in the big blind with AQ and when the loosest raiser remaining on the table comes in for a 6,000 raise (Blinds 1,000/2,000) I decide its time to get it allin with my last 20K. Again there is a pause and I'm thinking I'm either dominating or its a race. He calls and turns over KJs. I'll take that. When the flop shows QJx I'm feeling good. The turn is good but the river brings a sickening second Jack. Bed-time and I take a disappointing $25. The incremental steps were just about to grow considerably so a bad time to suffer a nasty river. Straight to bed and at least my meagre Stars bankroll reaches a new high.

Manic Monday
Didn't have a great session yesterday. Couldn't find a table and then ended up on two terrible ones. Both were very tight tables with mostly first raise taking down the pot or being re-raised. I dropped $24 pretty quickly and switched tables. Pulled a couple of dollars back but still was up against a lot of regulars and was not hitting cards and getting a little frustrated so I just closed it down. Ended up playing a couple of SNG for light relief. The SNGs seemed all like turbos. Played a couple of 5 man $2+.25 games and bubbled in both. Then signed up for a 5 man $5 tourney. Only two slots payed with $17.50 for the winner. I got to heads-up but the blinds then went up to 800/1600 and facing an allin. It seemed a compulsory allin as he had called an allin with 54 on the last round. This time he had QJ and held up. Next round with the blind swallowing my stack I had 23o and he had me dominated with 53o! All a bit of a lottery really.

Jesus on Bankroll Management
I remember reading he did something like this before for live games a long time ago. suspect this one is being subsidised by the Full Tilt guys or maybe it is just to promote his book.
http://w.fulltiltpoker.com/chris-ferguson-challenge
It actually takes him a decent amount of time getting started. I also suspect he had to adjust to the lower stakes tables and what bets 'meant'.
The graphs are pretty interesting anyway.
Check out the strategy link too..

Once in a lifetime - now twice in a lifetime.
Missed this one earlier. Quite a hand by Deadly.

I came up across a straight flush this week. I had a King flush (4 clubs on the board). I got away without a felting as I called a raise rather than reraising - just glad I didn't have the Ace.

Rationed Poker
I've agreed to a limit of ten hours a week playing a week to ensure domestic harmony - well at least a step in that direction. That's specifically playing time so reading books, watching Cardrunners, playing about with Poker Tracker and keeping a blog don't count.
My ten hours were spent on Poker room LA and its a dream playing there after my extended spell on the B2B network.
My first week of rationed poker saw me fall just short of my multi-tabling target (around 1.7 as opposed to 1.9 targeted).
My BB/100 is over 22 so running 2.75x hotter than I expected.
My bonus is clearing faster than anticipated and I'm now 60% of the way to clearing 100$ bonus.
Bizarrelly at this site trips are a losing proposition for me. I was set over setted against a fish who hit on the turn and pushed. Still I'm running good and can't complain. Pretty sure ten hours this week will let me clear this bonus so hopefully another $100+ week in store for next week.
Moocher seems to be getting down on some bad beats at the moment as his bankroll continues to decline. My best advice is to spend the money on Poker Tracker Moocher and play the micros. Winning poker comes first and then you can climb up the stakes. Play a starting hand chart and then post your biggest losing hands every day. I'd say that's a sure fire way to success.

Poker-Edge Ratings/ Hands overview
I am a rock.
Deadly is a bomb, exclamation mark and mouse.
It's never heard of Moocher.
And best of all Bigshotbog is a calling station!
So a summary of those hands - some missed value and bad play with an overpair that I could have got away were my main failings. Still won $62 so not a bad start on Pokeroom LA. I also worked out my bonus rate and I'm actually tracking at US$5 an hour for bonus alone. Nice bonus (at 20NL). Do it!

In you come sir. Have a seat. Have you put any money online yet? If not there are two or three sites where you can get a no-deposit bonus for free if you are interested. Alternatively be a man and stick US$100 in. You are management now after all.

Prediction Time #2
And a tongue in cheek quiz.
When will Moocher bust out?
a) By Monday's bankroll check.
b) August
c) September
d) All of the above
When will Phillberto win a live game?
a) Next game
b) When he stops playing weak tight
c) When he starts getting into pots against Moocher with trash.
d) When he learns to stay out of pots with Sham
If bankroll had to take into account money spent appeasing the other half.
a) Deadly would have busted out by now.
b) Phillberto would have busted out by now but be happy to dip into Mrs Phillberto's purse after live games.
c) Moocher would be exactly within $110 of busting out.
d) All of the above.
Add your guesses and feel free to add your own questions....

Prediction Time #1
I've been using a spreadsheet to keep track of my progress. I'm making estimations on how long quickly the bonus clears (normally I take this from Bonuswhores). I'm also guessing my multi-tabling ratio, total number of hours played per week and most importantly my average win-rate. I'll post the results as an indication of how accurate the predictions are. One final factor I'm also trying to take into account is the softness of the site. Bonus whores rates the 25NL tables as being C- which is ever so slightly more difficult than average. I'll try and adjust the BB/100 according to the site softness but will have to fine-tune this as I go.

Drop Final
A very belated review of the tournament. With prizes including a trip to two for Phuket, accommodation in an unnamed Macau hotel and dinner for two at Wildfire included as prizes it is Hong Kong's premier free-roll. Two Lamma representatives stacked their starting chips on the felt and prepared to go to war.
Moocher doubled up early when he got involved in talking trash with his arch rival of previous weeks. He got his money in against him good for the third time in a row (recording his second win)-. This time calling an allin on a 932 rainbow flop with a mere QJo in a raised pot. His opponent showed 78o and he held up.
Bigshot busted out with two tables to go. He got his money in with a King flush only to see an ace flush decimate his chip stack. He got his money in once again with a premium hand only to see it bettered and he was soon in a taxi on his way to the ferry leaving Moocher behind on the last of two tables albeit with a short stack.
Down to 11 players Moocher decided he needed to have some chips at the final table to have a chance and he went allin with 62o, got called - was out on the final table bubble - and was ferry bound himself. The next round of games begins tomorrow at Drop and hopefully we will see an increased quotient of Lamma players on final day.

West coast baby
So finally I get my money out of Bamba and even manage to get my money out of Paradise and back into Neteller. I sign up for a new site yesterday after reading the bonus discussion forums on Bonus Whores. It seems two sites have faulty software at the moment. They offer a contributed bonus which would be pretty slow to clear but their software is actually counting any raked hand. This means I cleared a quarter of the bonus playing for 3 hours (two tables). Therefore I reckon I'll have a $100 bonus in the bag by the end of this week. The site seems soft as well (on the Prima/Ladbrokes network) so I'm looking to build up a decent chunk of winnings on top of that.
When I finish that I'm off to their sister site for more of the same.

So slow progress for both Deadly and myself in reaching 3K but still neck and neck. Moocher starting to look like busting out could be a possibility. He is now struggling to meet the deadline for reaching his poker room $100 bonus and is now playing 50NL which could be risky as he is now within almost two buy-ins of busting.
Bigshot is in UK for the next couple of weeks so a static figure expected for him.

Last Dance
After enjoying a few Hooegardeens in Exchange square I decided against further libations on the ferry with a stint ahead of me at Bamba poker. With my parents arriving today last night was my last chance to clear their bonus. Early on I look down at Cowboys and raise 1 euro with one limper and get called by a middlish stack in the big blind. Flop comes J33. I raise and he calls. I check raise all in and he calls and shows 93o. My losing start is compounded when I have pocket ladies. Bet the flop, check the turn. I bet out when a Jack hits on the river for 4.25 and get called. I expect to see Jx and take the pot but nope its KK I was up against.
Shortly after I catch A4 in the big blind in a limped pot. I build up a small-medium size pot and he hits his kicker on the river. I build up another decent sized pot in a very similar hand but this time the board pairs and I split. I'm down 25 euros fast and the bonus points are coming slowly. I spark up a third table and begin to build a stack on all three tables.
I eventually finish up 12 euros up on the night when I finally clear the bonus making me a losing player at Bamba (by 2 euros). As I'm only a losing player because of rake (and I did clear a bonus) I could dispute that but its still not good. A lot of hours wasted on that site for 133 euro reward.
OK - should be quiet for me in the next week in poker terms although I may squeeze in a Stars tourney or two.
Update on Macau - Nothing official posted but Deadly's new chum Matt Savage sends confirmation it is likely to happen and seeks Deadly's advice on the HK poker community.
Bigshot sees some action last night on Star MTT and was down to the last seven and approaching the bubble in the smaller event. Did he bubble?
Shortly after I catch A4 in the big blind in a limped pot. I build up a small-medium size pot and he hits his kicker on the river.
