Bigshot reports in this morning with a $110 win at 50NL and seems upbeat about his new playing style. I after an enforced poker break sit in at three tables and hit a set on my first hand with pocket sevens on a A76 board. An 8 on the turn and then Barry Greensteins favourite, an Ace on the River. If I was behind to a jammy straight I've just outdrawn them and get the last of my money in on the river and get called. AK? No. TK for a straight? No. Pocket 8's and I'm outsetted after he called a near pot sized raise with two overpairs. Despite playing for a while and winning on the other two tables I end up down.
Getting oversetted happens though and I managed to take it in my stride without it affecting my play too much. Moocher reports in finally for the week and its grim news for him as reports he is busted. Its only $60 down for the year so easily recoverable but none the less probably a blow to his confidence. We await his update for plans on his online poker career and any adjustments he plans to make.
I resolve my Pacific Poker bonus query. It seems they paid 1/3 of my bonus up-front for some reason which I kind of noticed at the time. It means that I now have a lot of poker to play before I get any more Bonus $$$ at Interpoker and I'm already down $37 there. Winning poker seems to be eluding me at the moment but after a review of my main losses last night I only found a couple of hands that I felt I didn't play well.
Maybe Valentine's night will be lucky for me :-)

Ultimate Bet
I finally manage to wrestle the $50 worth of tournament $$ out of UB. After winning my first $5+0.50 tournament before realising I didn't have my T$ I started well. I then bought into a tournament using cash rather than T$. I managed to place third in a $10 tourney after losing a race with TT against AJ. My t$ were then depleted by a number of bubble losses before I won a $10 for a $50 win which let me cash out with $84 to the good. Another $20 win at lunchtime and I need to clear another bonus of $100 at Interpoker whilst winning $189 in the process.
A tough ask.

Deadly Weekly nc Total +801

Lamma Jim turns the corner, does a three point turn and then takes the wrong exit at the roundabout but still manages to head in the right direction. I get subjected to a poker ban and domestic strife that limits my opportunity to catch Deadly who has been jogging on the spot for two weeks. Bigshot visits the playground and decides to have a go on the swings. The week ends on an upswing and he gets his nose back in the black. I await figures from Moocher although a delay is never a good sign!
I've been struggling to get Ladbrokes and Pacific Poker to live up to their bonus promise. I manage to squeeze $10 out of a Ladbrokes Blackjack bonus (Whoopie-Doo!) and for some unknown reason Pacific Poker decide to only pay 2/3rds of my bonus. I'm currently slightly down on Interpoker and having to readjuct after the super-loose Pacific play but remain shy of my targets. Ho Hum.
Late news in from Moocher. His silence was a result of bad news...busto.

Plodding on
Lamma Jim looks out a starting hand chart and finishes up his session $12 up. Could this be the turn around? As a man that likes his metal I'm sure he is keen to get back in black. I find myself last night on a pretty straightforward table and am close to a buy in up at 50NL before a software glitch closes the table. I can only find a seat at 50NL against a guy with $10. I flop two pair on the first hand and felt him but I give back $5 and we are evenly matched at $15. I raise, get min raised and push with pocket eights and he calls with Kings which hold reducing my win for the night to $36.
I then let Mrs P loose on Ladbrokes blackjack to win a $25 bonus. Half-way through the requirements she is running $9 down so not likely to help the roll much at all but good for a giggle.
With my floor needing to be ripped up it may be prudent to relocate the family for a week after Chinese New Year. This may free up a little more poker time and may enable me to get back on track for the first Quarter.

Quarter 1 - Target assessment
January Target: +$300 January Actual +355
February Target: +$500
March Target: +$450
As I was anticipating a $200 bonus being cleared in February my predictions are a bit inaccurate and in real terms I'm actually behind in terms of where I want to be. I 'll be working on clearing the following Bonus in February (Ultimate Bet $50, Pacific Poker $100 - already 75% completed- and Interpoker $100). Earned as follows:
Week 6 (11/2)- $100 Bonus
Week 7 (18/2)- $50 Bonus
Week 10 (3/3) - $100 Bonus
Week 13 (31/3) - $100 Bonus
Which means I'll need to run at winning $6.68 an hour on the tables so around 5 PTBB/100 if I play 80 hands an hour. If I can 2 table and still maintain the win-rate that would make life easier.

I have a terrible start to my weekend play. I hit top pair three times and get called by the same player three times. Each time he reraises me big on the river. I fold the first two times and then decided I'm getting pushed around and call and lose to a rivered two pair. Ouch. $30 down and onto a $50 table that is playing huge pots regularly. I have pocket Aces on my first hand. Three limpers to me so I pop it up to $3 and get called twice. The flop comes down 345 and the first raiser goes allin and the second calls. I click call far too quickly and before I even see their cards realise I have made a stupid call. Both have the nuts 56o and I lose my buy-in. I takes a long session to claw it back.
I really need to cut out stupid plays.
I also had two ridiculous hands. Full stacks at 50Nl .
I raise to $2 pre-flop with JJ and get repopped to $6.
I call.
Flop comes AJx rainbow and he checks. I bet $9 and he repops me to $18.
I'm getting my money in and trying to put him on a hand before deciding to push here or flat call.
I think his range is pretty narrow.
AA is least likely but in that case I'm screwed.
AK is very likely.
KK or QQ are also possibilities and he is hoping to fold out and lesser pairs or hope I call and check it down.
I think AK will call a push as will AA of course. So I'm weighing up calling and risking giving $2 outs twice for the sake of an outside chance of getting another bet out of them on the river.
I decide that the better play is the push. Except I've clicked on speed table by mistake and I'm timed out a fraction of a second before I get it allin. This is when I'm $80 down so my hole just got $12 deeper and that was such a great spot and I could have climbed out there.
I try and persuade myself that maybe I have just made a great laydown to Aces!
10 minutes later with the young jeepster M. running around I'm in a limped pot in the Big Blind. I have A7s and the nut flush draw in a three way pot. I check, UTG bets just over half pot and is called by cut-off. I now have the pot odds to call. The turn is unlikely to help anyone and once again UTG fires a half pot-sized bet (2.50). Again the cut-off calls and I'm priced in. The river blanks and I check and the UTG fires for $3 more and the cut-off gives up.
The little person then decides to pay me a visit - looks at the screen and has made a crazy toddler read and hits the call button on the laptop. He flips over a missed straight draw and I rake in a $16 pot.
Ace high was good and we may have a protegee in the making capable of such immense hero calls. 'Bob the Builder' he says. Was he simply hoping that I would visit the Bob the Builder website or was he in fact referring to the fact he was helping me 'build' my bankroll. You decide.

January Summary
January Summary
Deadly +801
Phillberto + 355
BigshotBog +35
Moocher +10
Lamma Jim -60
As January comes to an end we have a first look at the net effects of the month. Deadly has great month and notches up his biggest winning month to date. Phillberto recovers from a poor start to show an average winning month but mainly made up of bonus. Bigshot loses earlier bigger gains but still manages a winning month. Moocher also went ahead early but has watched the initial gain being whittled down to close to his starting figure and poor Jim shows up as the only losing player as he battles with 10NL.
