Straight flush

This time it was the opponent that had it.

I raised a minraiser with TT to and got two callers (including the original raiser).
Flop 89T all diamonds.

The original raiser made a bet of just 2.50 into the pot. A very small bet and one that made me very suspicious. It wasn't protecting him against any draws.

Thinking about it this play makes some sense for Pocket Jacks. Any hand with the Ace of diamonds including pocket Aces (although not reraised) and a made flush (most likely the nut flush). Possibly a lower set hoping to get the opportunit

I chose to just call probably a mistake given my reads but I would have been happy to fold (or stick around if given the implied odds) if a diamond fell. The 8 hitting on the turn was enough to give me the third nuts and I really couldn't put him on a straight flush or quads so got it in.

Even the third guy in the hand remarked 'What a cooler'. I then sat out.
I played on at the other table but wished I hadn't as my decision making suffered.

Week 17 - April 28-May 5

Lamma Poker Exchange 670 (-248)

Deadly Weekly -85 Total +959
Moocher Weekly -40 Total +180
Phillberto Weekly -98 Total +157

Lamma_Jim Weekly +18 Total -168
Bigshot Bog Weekly -39 Total -458

Looking like a grim week all round. Deadly has a second losing week. Moocher jumps a spot into second place despite registering a losing week. I manage to lose again. I managed to hit top set on a mono flop on a 3 way reraised pot preflop. I then filled up on the turn. The money all went in for me to discover that I was behind to a flopped straight flush.

Having transferred $500 to Bigshot I'm now under $100 on Stars and working on building my bankroll to enable me to two table 50NL again. And running the very real likelihood of busting out once again.

LammaJim looks like he is heading further away from the prospect of busting however and is already on the way to another winning week again I hear. Bigshot has a losing week but is at least avoiding the occasional massive slip that has eaten his roll in previous months.

Lets put up a few winning peformances this week Lamma people.

Climbing the hill I've just slipped down (Live game?)

Another winning session last night. I'm actually tracking at just 50% winning sessions at the moment but still keeping above 10PTBB mark at 50NL and above 25PTBB/100 at 25NL (with disastrous stats for 10NL during my bad spell!).

I win $25 in the first round of the table last night and despite handing $15 of it back I managed to climb back up and ended $40 up on the night. I still see room for improvement as well and still mistakes creeping into my game that if I can cut out of my game should save me $$ aplenty.

With a long weekend ahead I think a live game should be 'on the cards'. Although I now have a suitable venue I don't yet have the furniture as Mrs P ditched the existing chairs and I haven't bought new ones yet. Any other venues available? A Thursday or Saturday night game perhaps?

Moocher's Royal Straight

I think this is worthy of a post of its own.

Moocher sees a flop with his ATs.

JJQ flop leaves him with a gutter and a flush draw.

Turn brings a Kc for a beautiful Royal Straight.

River brings a second K giving him the ultimate nuts on an action board. Two full houses watch him turn over poker's sweetest hand and of course victory cannot be denied the Mooch!

Do give us some insight into the betting before this Moocher. Did they both have Jacks for the full house or did someone get there with a King?

And the other big question what percentage of your stack did you have to get in in order to hit your RS?

Doesn't it make you want to pay cash games though!

Pocket 3s - Interesting hand

BB has $70 and I cover. He has been fairly tight 20/15/3 and is capable of getting it in without the nuts. He had reraised my raises four times. I played back on the 5th attempt and stacked him with AA v AK. He reloaded and has built up his stack since then. He seems pretty solid and I haven't seen him do anything unusual at all.

Button limps. I call with pocket 3s and BB checks.

Flop A63 rainbow.

I bet $1.10

BB bets $3.50

I raise $6.50

BB raises $22.50

I call.

Turn A ( still rainbow)

I check

BB bets $25

Phillberto?

Whats his range here? Whats my play?

Week 16 - April 21-28

Lamma Poker Exchange 918 (-15)

Deadly Weekly -280 Total +1048
Phillberto Weekly +115 Total +255
Moocher Weekly +95 Total +220
Lamma_Jim Weekly -6 Total -186
Bigshot Bog Weekly +61 Total -419

So a mixed bag this week. Mr Consistancy rediscovers the existence of variance. Phillberto sees things moving in the right direction for the first time in a while. Moocher shows up with a very strong week to make amends for last weeks dip after a consistant spell and ensures Deadly now has a pack on his tail albeit somewhat in the distance but hopefully dogged in their pursuit now he has shown some frailty!

Bigshot manages a winning week as well and now needs to string together some consistancy if he wants to keep chipping away at his deficit. Lamma Jim edges closer and closer to bankruptcy but at 10NL might yet just turn things around.

Despite three positive reports though Deadly's loss ensures a small dip in the Lamma Poker Exchange.

Turned the corner?

At the risk of tempting fate I've finally managed something that has eluded me for a while. Back to back winning sessions. Opting for a 50NL game and a simultaneous $5 SNG I crashed out in 5th place of the tourney but hardly put a foot wrong in the cash game finishing $87 to the good after 100 hands and now running hot at 30PTBB/100 at 50NL. Two biggest hands of the night below.
