First hand I don't see why you checked the turn. Definite re-raise required though. If he has the flush then that's life.
Second hand he's either flopped a set or the straight. Lay it down.
I checked because people love to call raises with hands like J10. Two flush draws there so maybe that would outweigh the advantages of pot control with just an overpair.
I called and he showed 4c5c.
He had an open-ended straight draw so was likely to call any re-raise anyway and if got there more than likely felt me!
Second hand I did lay it down. I thought he possible had draw or an overpair. My reraise was designed to find out if I was beat and make him fold a draw or draw/top pair type hand. I would have tried to check it down if he called and fold to any more action. Do you like the reraise?
