Back in Black

Moocher returns to form winning $40 and is back in black. A very light black - more charcoal even - but in the black nonetheless.

Poker free for me and likely to stay that way this week with work events on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, the Yau Yee league dinnere where we collect the league trophy on Friday and a kick boxing match in Macau on Saturday.

Squadron, winners of the first division have hired an open topped bus to take them round the streets of wanchai to celebrate their league win. Quality!

Maybe Deadly has some poker tales to relate. Maybe even Bigshotbog will return to the fold after his extended break.

Quiet again last night - and Monday I played football so no action at all. On party last night at 50nl and in my 20 minute window I got up to $70 from $50. Then in the big blind (unraised pot) with 7-2 I called a short stack's all in ($22) with a flop of 7-2-3. He had 4-5 off and a 6 came on the turn - river blanked me.
After that I left and went to bed ruing my lost opportunity. - Stupid call?

Problem
It's difficult to get any playing time other than on the weekends - what with having a job and a family (jeez what a drag :-))
And then it's not fair to spend all my time hunched over a lap top ignoring my loved ones.

Not in it for the $, but want to test myself every so often. I think I get most out of the thrill of competition - or maybe I just like gambling?

Solution a)
Play higher stakes for very short timespans?
Solution b)
Just don't worry about it - play less

Last night I celebrated my engagement by enjoying a wonderful meal and a great bottle of wine with my fiancee and had a really nice time. Emboldened by this (after the family had fallen asleep) I decided it would be a good time to play some UB regulars Heads Up for .25/.50 ($50 buy in)
Usually I avoid them as they are always on there and I assume quite good. 90% of a bottle of Shiraz makes for a braver man however and I launched into a 50 minute battle with one guy - I considered 2 tabling but rejected the idea as I was having trouble concentrating - which went back and forth in dramatic fashion until he bailed out with me $70 down after a particularly large pot. I actually think I was doing ok, but as no-one sat down for 10 mins I had to give up - plus I was tired and a bit pissed :-)
This is always a danger in HU, hit and runs are very common, I've done it myself often enough.
I think the moral here is, as usual, don't play when you're drunk!
Naturally I will now watch out for him and try to get my money back at the next available opportunity.

Moocher - another 6 hour session?
